Green tea as an elixir of longevity: daily consumption of the drink reduces the risk of premature death

Drinking green tea every day can significantly reduce the risk of premature death - this is the conclusion of scientists who conducted a large-scale study. This drink, which has been considered beneficial for health for centuries, has confirmed its properties in the conditions of modern science.

In particular, researchers found that regular consumption of green tea is associated with a decrease in mortality from various causes, including cardiovascular disease and some types of cancer. People who drank green tea at least three times a week had a higher chance of living longer and healthier lives compared to those who did not drink this drink.

The study analyzed data from more than 100,000 participants who were followed for seven years. The results showed that those who regularly drank green tea had a risk of death from any cause reduced by approximately 15%. In particular, mortality from cardiovascular diseases decreased by 25%.

Scientists also noted that the positive effect was especially noticeable among men and people over 50 years of age. In addition, green tea consumption affected not only the duration, but also the quality of life: the risk of developing hypertension, coronary heart disease and stroke decreased.

This effect is explained by the presence in green tea of ​​a large number of polyphenols - antioxidants that neutralize free radicals in the body and have anti-inflammatory properties. In particular, catechins contained in tea strengthen the walls of blood vessels, improve metabolism and reduce cholesterol levels.

Therefore, a daily cup of green tea is not just a habit, but an investment in a healthy and long life. However, experts warn: excessive consumption can cause side effects, especially in people with gastrointestinal problems or increased sensitivity to caffeine. As with everything, moderation is important.
