How to recognize high blood pressure without using a blood pressure monitor

In the modern world, hypertension has become a common disease that often proceeds asymptomatically, but poses a serious threat to health. Many people do not even suspect that their pressure exceeds the norm until they encounter complications. Although the most reliable way to measure blood pressure is a blood pressure monitor, there are signs by which you can suspect the presence of hypertension even without this device.

One of the most characteristic signs of high blood pressure is a headache. It is usually localized in the occipital part, especially in the morning, after sleep. Such pain is often accompanied by heaviness in the head, dizziness and a feeling of compression. It is important not to ignore these signals of the body, especially if they are repeated regularly.

Another alarming symptom is visual impairment: "fog" may appear before the eyes, flickering "flies" or double vision. This indicates that high pressure affects the vessels of the retina. Such symptoms are a reason to immediately consult a doctor, because visual disturbances can be not only a sign of hypertension, but also a warning of a stroke.

Palpitations, a feeling of anxiety, shortness of breath are another group of symptoms that may indicate a hypertensive reaction. A person may feel like the heart is "jumping" out of the chest or "beating". An increase in pulse rate or arrhythmia without obvious physical activity is a signal that the cardiovascular system is working with overload.

Redness of the face, excessive sweating and a general feeling of heat are also common manifestations of hypertension. They can occur suddenly, accompanied by internal anxiety or even nausea. In some cases, a person may feel tingling in the limbs or their numbness.

Finally, another manifestation of high blood pressure can be sleep problems. People with hypertension often complain of night awakenings, a feeling of fear or lack of air. Sleep disturbances can cause even higher blood pressure, creating a vicious cycle.

Although these symptoms may indicate hypertension, they are not always reliable without confirmation with a blood pressure monitor. If you regularly experience these symptoms, it is important to see a doctor, get tested, and, if necessary, start treatment. Hypertension is easier to control if diagnosed early.
