Lycopene is a powerful antioxidant that can neutralize free radicals that damage cells and can contribute to the development of cancerous tumors. Lycopene is especially abundant in cooked tomatoes, tomato paste and sauces, since heat treatment increases its bioavailability.

According to research, men who regularly consume tomatoes and tomato products have an 18–35% lower risk of developing prostate cancer. One such study was conducted at Harvard University, where more than 47,000 men participated in the observation for several years. The results showed that those who consumed at least 10 servings of tomato products per week were significantly less likely to develop the disease.

In addition to lycopene, tomatoes contain other beneficial substances - vitamins C, E, folic acid and potassium, which support overall health and the immune system. These components are also involved in protecting the body's cells from damage and contribute to the normal functioning of internal organs.

It is worth noting that the effectiveness of prevention increases significantly when the use of tomatoes is combined with a general healthy lifestyle - regular physical activity, quitting smoking, limiting alcohol consumption and a balanced diet.

Although tomatoes are not a cure, but only part of a preventive diet, they can be an important addition to the fight for men's health. Including them in your diet regularly is a simple and affordable step towards reducing the risk of developing one of the most common cancers in men.
