Pistachios - small nuts with big health benefits: doctors' opinion

Pistachios have long been known as a tasty and nutritious snack, but doctors emphasize: the benefits of these nuts go far beyond simple satiety. In their composition, pistachios have a rich set of nutrients that have a positive effect on overall health. Doctors advise including them in your daily diet, but with some caution.

First of all, pistachios are a source of protein, fiber and healthy fats. 100 grams of the product contains about 20 grams of protein, which makes them an excellent alternative for people who limit their meat consumption. Fiber promotes healthy digestion, and unsaturated fats support heart function.

Pistachios attract special attention due to their high content of antioxidants, including lutein and zeaxanthin. These substances help protect the eyes from age-related changes and reduce the risk of developing cataracts and macular degeneration. Antioxidants also neutralize free radicals that can damage cells.

Doctors note that regular consumption of pistachios can help lower blood cholesterol levels. Studies have shown that people who ate pistachios for several weeks had a decrease in the level of "bad" cholesterol (LDL) and an improvement in the ratio of "good" (HDL) to "bad".

In addition, pistachios contain many vitamins and minerals: vitamins B6, E, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium and others. Vitamin B6 is especially important for supporting the nervous system and the production of serotonin and melatonin hormones, which affect mood and sleep.

However, doctors warn: excessive consumption of pistachios can lead to excess calories, especially if they are salty. The optimal dose is a portion of 30 grams per day. This approach allows you to get all the benefits of the nut without harming your figure or health.
