One of the main reasons tangerines can be dangerous for some people is their high fructose content. Fructose is a natural sugar found in many fruits. However, when consumed in excess, it can cause digestive problems, increased blood sugar, and impaired liver function. Tangerines are no exception, as this fruit contains a significant amount of fructose. This is especially true for those who suffer from insulin resistance or have diabetes.

An average tangerine contains about 6 grams of fructose, which may not seem like a lot. However, if they are consumed in large amounts, it can lead to high blood sugar levels, which is a risk for people with cardiovascular disease or diabetes. Excessive fructose consumption can also increase the burden on the liver, which in turn can cause health problems.

For people who do not have serious health problems, tangerines can still be beneficial due to their high amount of vitamins and minerals, especially vitamin C. They have antioxidant properties, support the immune system and improve the overall condition of the skin. However, even for healthy people, the amount of tangerines consumed should be controlled to avoid the negative effects of excessive fructose.

Another important feature of tangerines is that their dietary properties are significantly reduced if they are consumed together with other foods that contain a large amount of sugars or carbohydrates. This can cause a spike in blood glucose and stress the pancreas, which is important to consider, especially for people at increased risk of developing diabetes.

It is important to understand that tangerines can be both useful and harmful depending on the amount of the product consumed and the state of human health. For those who have trouble digesting fructose, it is best to limit the consumption of this fruit or choose other fruit options that contain less sugar. At the same time, tangerines are an excellent choice for people who have no contraindications and want to enrich their diet with useful vitamins and antioxidants.

In general, mandarins are a tasty and healthy product, but like any other product, they need to be consumed in moderation. Therefore, if you want to include tangerines in your diet, it is important to consider their fructose content and individual characteristics of the body in order to avoid unpleasant health consequences.
