How to Care for Your Cuticles

Cuticle care is an important part of maintaining healthy and beautiful nails. The cuticle protects the nail bed from bacteria and damage, so improper care can lead to inflammation, dryness, and hangnails. To keep your nails looking neat and well-groomed, it's enough to follow a few simple rules and do this regularly.

The first thing to pay attention to is moisturizing. Dry cuticles crack more quickly, cause hangnails, and can be painful. Use a special cuticle oil or nourishing cream every day, especially during the colder months. Apply the oil in a circular motion, gently massaging the area around the nail—this improves blood circulation and promotes healthy nail growth.

Before working with your cuticles, it's important to properly prepare your hands. A warm bath with soap or salt for a few minutes will help soften the skin, make it more pliable, and prevent damage. Never trim dry or unprepared cuticles, as this can injure the skin and introduce infection.

Cuticle removal should be gentle and careful. It's best to use an orange stick or cuticle pusher to gently push back the cuticle. If you prefer a classic trimmed manicure, use only well-sharpened nippers or scissors and trim the skin as little as possible. Excessive trimming can lead to rapid and rougher regrowth.

Regular care not only improves the appearance of your hands but also prevents hangnails. If they do appear, don't pick them off—only carefully trim them with a disinfected tool. After trimming, it's recommended to apply hand sanitizer, followed by a moisturizing oil or cream.

Don't forget to protect your hands. Household chemicals, cold temperatures, and frequent use of hand sanitizers can greatly dry out the skin, so wearing gloves when cleaning and warm mittens in winter is not just a recommendation, but a necessity. The fewer harmful factors affecting the skin, the healthier and softer the cuticles will look.

Proper cuticle care takes little time, but it yields noticeable results. Well-groomed nails look neat, the skin around them is soft and smooth, and the risk of inflammation is minimal. Regularity, precision, and attention to detail are the key to a beautiful manicure and healthy cuticles.
