Water in the Ear and Safe Removal Methods| Здоровье
Water getting into the ear is a common occurrence, especially during bathing, swimming, or water activities. In most cases, if the ear is healthy and uninjured, there is no danger, and the water will drain on its own. However, if the skin or mucous membrane is damaged, the risk of infection increases significantly. Pathogenic microorganisms found in open water, especially rivers and ponds, can cause inflammation and complications. To reduce the risk of water getting into the ear, it's helpful to use special swimming caps or earplugs. This is especially important for children, whose ear canal is more vulnerable and whose immune system is not yet fully developed. Furthermore, water temperature plays a role: cold water increases the risk of inflammation and weakens local immunity. If water has already gotten into the ear, first tilt your head toward your shoulder to allow the fluid to drain naturally. At the same time, you can gently pull the earlobe downward to straighten the ear canal and speed up the drainage of fluid. Lightly pressing the earlobe with the palm of your hand while tilting your head helps remove any remaining water. In some cases, you can use a hair dryer to dry the ear, but keep the device at least 30 centimeters away, directing the warm air toward the outer ear, not into it. This reduces the risk of damage to the ear canal and prevents overheating of the tissues. If water gets into a child's ear, it often manifests as shaking their head or pulling on their ear. The child should be placed on their side with the affected ear facing down and gently pull the lobe, holding them in this position for several minutes. This helps the water drain and reduces the risk of fluid retention. It's important to remember not to use cotton swabs, fingers, or other objects to remove water. Such actions can cause irritation, damage, and infection. Also, do not use ear drops without a doctor's prescription. If pain, ear congestion, or a fever occurs, consult an ENT doctor for diagnosis and to prevent complications. Ключевые слова:
