Autumn without colds: how to stay healthy during the virus season

With the onset of autumn, our body faces new challenges: temperature changes, humidity, shorter daylight hours and decreased immunity contribute to the spread of seasonal diseases. However, by following a few simple but effective tips, you can significantly reduce the risk of colds, ARVI or flu.

  1. Dress according to the weather

Autumn is often insidious: it can be cold in the morning, warm during the day, and then it gets cold again in the evening. Therefore, it is worth adhering to the principle of multi-layering - dressing "like a cabbage". This will allow you to easily remove or put on another layer of clothing if necessary, without overheating or hypothermia. Be sure to take a comfortable jacket, scarf, hat with you and do not forget about warm shoes in rainy weather.

  1. Eat a balanced and seasonal diet

During this period, it is very important to support the immune system from the inside. The daily diet should include fresh vegetables and fruits, especially those rich in vitamin C: cabbage, bell peppers, apples, rose hips. Don't forget about proteins - meat, fish, eggs, legumes. Also pay attention to products containing zinc (pumpkin seeds, nuts) and vitamin D, which is synthesized less in the fall due to the reduction in daylight hours.

  1. Drink enough fluids

The body needs water not only in the summer. In the fall, many people reduce their water consumption without feeling thirsty. However, this is a mistake: dehydration weakens the immune system and makes it difficult to fight viruses. Drink clean water, herbal teas, decoctions, add lemon, ginger or honey to drinks - it is not only tasty, but also useful.

  1. Follow your sleep and rest regimen

The immune system directly depends on how well you sleep. In the fall, when the body is adjusting to a new regime, it is important to go to bed no later than 10–11 pm and sleep for at least 7–8 hours. Try not to overexert yourself — chronic fatigue contributes to the weakening of the immune system.

  1. Don't forget about physical activity

Despite the fact that with the onset of cold weather you want to spend more time at home, mobility remains an important condition for health. Walks in the fresh air, morning exercises or yoga at home — any activity improves blood circulation, promotes the production of endorphins and strengthens the immune system.

  1. Follow the rules of hygiene and avoid hypothermia

Frequent hand washing, avoiding crowds during epidemics, regular airing of rooms — simple habits that really save. If your feet get wet or cold, warm up as soon as possible, change into dry clothes, take a warm shower or bath, and drink a hot drink.

Autumn doesn’t have to be a season of illness. Taking care of yourself, eating right, getting enough sleep, and paying attention to your body’s signals will help you enjoy the beauty of the season without catching a cold.
