Who should give up coffee forever: a warning from nutritionists

Coffee is one of the most popular drinks in the world, consumed by millions of people every day. It increases energy, improves mood and concentration. However, not everyone benefits from such a stimulating effect. Nutritionists warn: for some categories of people, coffee can pose a serious health risk.

First of all, doctors warn people with cardiovascular diseases. Caffeine causes an increase in blood pressure and can cause rapid heartbeat, which is especially dangerous for those who already have heart problems or suffer from hypertension. For such patients, even one cup of coffee can have negative consequences.

Another category is people suffering from gastritis, stomach ulcers or high acidity. Coffee stimulates the production of gastric juice, which can aggravate the symptoms of the disease and lead to an exacerbation. Nutritionists advise these people to completely avoid not only regular, but also decaffeinated coffee, since even it irritates the gastric mucosa.

Special attention should be paid to people with anxiety disorders, insomnia or high levels of stress. Caffeine stimulates the nervous system, and in sensitive people this can lead to increased anxiety, irritability, sleep problems and even panic attacks. In such cases, it is better to switch to soothing herbal drinks, such as chamomile or mint tea.

Pregnant women are also at risk. Although small doses of caffeine are permissible in some cases, doctors recommend either completely abandoning coffee or severely limiting its use. Excessive caffeine consumption during pregnancy can affect fetal development, increase the risk of miscarriage or premature birth.

It is equally important to avoid coffee for people with metabolic disorders, in particular type 2 diabetes. Caffeine can affect blood sugar levels and reduce insulin sensitivity. In such cases, coffee consumption requires monitoring by a doctor.

So, despite its popularity, coffee is not suitable for everyone. If you belong to one of the above groups, you should seriously consider making changes to your daily diet. It is always best to consult a doctor or a nutritionist to avoid health risks.
