How to remove sweat and deodorant stains: useful tips

The problem of yellow and white marks on clothes is familiar to almost everyone. Even the highest quality deodorants and antiperspirants can leave marks on fabrics, and when combined with sweat, they eventually eat into the fibers and spoil the appearance of your favorite things. However, there are many ways to restore freshness and cleanliness to your clothes.

Why do stains appear?

Stains occur due to a chemical reaction between sweat salts and deodorant components (most often aluminum). White stains are more noticeable on dark fabrics, and yellow ones on light fabrics. Over time, they become denser and harder to wash, so it is important to start cleaning as early as possible.

Effective home remedies

1. Soda and hydrogen peroxide
Mix 2 tablespoons of soda, 1 teaspoon of dishwashing liquid and 2 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide. Apply to the stain for 30-40 minutes, then rinse with warm water and wash the item. Works great for white fabrics.

2. Vinegar
Soak the clothes in a solution of water and table vinegar (1:1) for 30 minutes. This will help remove the unpleasant odor and refresh the fabric.

3. Lemon juice
Apply freshly squeezed lemon juice to the stain, rub lightly and leave in the sun. Lemon whitens well and removes yellowness.

4. Salt
For delicate fabrics, you can use regular kitchen salt: sprinkle on a damp stain, rub with a brush and leave for 20 minutes.

5. Aspirin
Grind several aspirin tablets into powder, dilute with a small amount of water and apply to the stain. This method is especially good for old stains.

Professional products

If home methods do not work, you can buy special stain removers for deodorant stains. When choosing, consider the type of fabric: oxygen-based bleaches are suitable for white items, and chlorine-free bleaches are suitable for colored items, so as not to damage the color.

Helpful care tips

Wash items as soon as possible after wearing, especially in hot weather.
Do not apply too much deodorant - excess product increases the risk of stains.
Before washing, treat the armpit area with a stain remover or laundry soap.
For delicate fabrics (silk, wool), use only mild products and hand wash.

It is quite possible to remove sweat and deodorant stains using both folk methods and modern products. The main thing is to act quickly and choose the right method for a specific fabric. This way, you will keep your favorite clothes in perfect condition for a long time.
