Rice Pudding with Raisins and Milk


 

Rice pudding is a tender and filling dish that's perfect for breakfast or an afternoon dessert. The base of the pudding is rice, which, when cooked properly, acquires a soft, creamy texture and pairs beautifully with milk, eggs, and sweet toppings.

To prepare the pudding, take one cup of washed rice and pre-cook it in boiling water for about ten minutes. Then, drain the water, pour hot milk over the rice, and add a pinch of salt. Simmer the mixture over low heat, stirring occasionally, for 25-30 minutes until the rice is tender.

Next, add sugar, eggs, and raisins to the pudding. Mix all ingredients thoroughly until smooth. Then, pour the mixture into a greased pan or skillet and bake in a preheated oven. This allows the pudding to develop a golden crust on top and retain its softness inside.

The finished rice pudding is carefully removed from the pan and placed on a serving plate. It is cut into portions and, if desired, can be garnished with your favorite jam, honey, or fresh fruit. This garnish makes the dish even more appetizing and appealing to the whole family.

The pudding can be served hot or chilled. The former is especially comforting during the colder months, while the latter makes a wonderful dessert for a summer dinner. Rice pudding combines nutrition and lightness, while the raisins add a pleasant sweetness and textural variety.

Thanks to its ease of preparation and readily available ingredients, this recipe is suitable even for novice cooks. Experiment with toppings to change the pudding's flavor, using different types of dried fruit, nuts, or aromatic spices like cinnamon and vanilla, making the dish unique every time.
